I haven’t been writing much on this blog anymore. Seems like everything you would want to know about me you could find on facebook.com. I was working with the website a little bit tonight, trying to get a webpage together for my rental house. Hadn’t written any html for a couple years either. Just like old times LOL. Anyway, times are tough now and my tenants are getting a divorce and moving out… they have 5 kids. Sad stuff. So anyway, I will be putting another add in the paper and spending an ton of money to get the carpet replaced, inside painted, and all kinds of other general upkeep. I am sure you can imagine what tenants with 5 kids can do in a year in a half.
Stressful! Oh well things could be a lot worse I guess.
I was watching television last night and started seeing many commercials pertaining to the upcoming Olympics. This got me to thinking about Team USA basketball. I checked out the website and started looking over this roster. WOW is all I have to say! This team is stacked big time. They should have no problem getting the gold this year. I am really looking forward to see that team play together.
The season is finally over and we did it! Our final record was 13-3 and we defeated the mighty Red Sox that were 14-1 before they played us in the championship. The final score was 12-5 and they really didn’t have a chance. Our shortstop Chris caught 3 fly balls against their big hitters and Raul turned a double play from the pitchers mound on a line drive. The game was a little anti-climactic after the National league division championship two nights earlier. That game was the best baseball game that I have ever been a part of. I have played or coached baseball for 10 + years and have never seen a better come back. Our team was down in the bottom of the 5th 10-3 (last inning in t-ball), and due up were hitters number 6-14. In T-ball you are only allowed to bat 10 batters in the last inning or 3 outs which ever comes first. So basically they had held us to 3 runs the entire game and we needed 7 in one inning only, while sending only 10 batters to the plate. This means that if they got 2 outs then our last batter would need to hit a home run. Stack that on top of the fact that our strongest hitters where hitter number 3 and 5 and would not be allowed to bat, then you have a very long shot at a comeback. The bottom of our line up came through big time, with a little help from the other team on errors. We batted 9 batters and scored 8 runs w/out the other team recording a single out. It was nothing less then miraculous! All of the parents came pouring on to the field screaming, hugging, and giving high fives! One of the best experiences of my entire life.
The kids were so pumped, everyone was so happy. I know everyone on the team will be signing up to play again next year!
We had a pretty lively weekend, came back to work kind of tired. Friday evening started out with the opening ceremonies for Okeeheelee Youth Baseball Spring League. I am managing Mitchell’s t-ball team this year, the Phillies. Here is the link to the standings Standings.
After that we went to dinner at Flannigans in Wellington. The next morning we kind of lounged around, played basketball, went on a bike ride, and took a nap. We had our opening t-ball game against the Diamond backs at 5 PM and won 20-13. We were the home team and did not need to bat in the bottom of the 5th. After the game we went with a bunch of parents and kids to La Fogata Mexican restaurant, we had a party of 21. The restaurant was able to give us the big banquet room off to the side, very accommodating and pretty decent food and drinks. Next Morning (Sunday) we slept in and then at 11 AM we went to the Beach in Jupiter with Gary & Audra +Kids, Dave & Dawn +Kids, and Me & Carlee +Kids. It was a great day for all, we hung out until 4 PM. Dave brought mimosa’s and beer and we all had subs for lunch, perfect day!
Monday, we decided to go to Artigras. This was up in Abacoa Town Center in Jupiter. I had a pretty fun time, the kids did the face painting and clay sculpturing. We had a nice lunch and walked the whole exhibition. Monday evening was our second t-ball game against the Yankees. We were again the home team and won the game in the bottom of the 5th 16-15. After that we were all pretty tired so just went home and got the kids in bed. We watched “Bret Michaels Rock of Love” on the DVR (I know, cheesy) and then crashed. I would say that was a busy weekend.
Once again I have grown tired of the format of my website. I have decided to resurrect my blog from a few years back. Now the kids are growing up and doing more activities, it seems like a good time to run a blog and frequently upload photos and what’s happening. Check back in a few days and I am sure I will have something up here.
